• In Mathon’s heart, where the hills stand tall,

• MCS Tennis invites you all!

• Though the weather may bite with a wintery chill,

• We’ll warm up the courts with our passion and skill.

• A day of rallies, serves, and cheer,

• To cap off another fantastic year.

• So bundle up, bring your love for the game,

• And end 2024 with tennis acclaim!

AGM Minutes 📨

The MCS Tennis Club Annual General Meeting was held on Monday 18^th November. Click here to view the minutes.

Congratulations and welcome to our new chairperson Peter Spargo, our new Welfare Officer Anne Spargo, and our new Comms Lead Sue McAleer. Huge thanks again to David Gibbard for all he did as our Chairperson over the past few years.

Coaching 🎾 

Over winter, group coaching will be organised (& can be paid for) on a week-by-week basis. So, there is no longer a commitment to a block of session and there is the option to try just one session. Sessions will take place at 6.30-7:30 pm on Thursday evenings and cost £8.  If you’d like to be included in the weekly availability poll please let me know or just contact Ali. 

Individual & small group (2 or 3) coaching will continue to take place on Thursday afternoons. If you are interested in booking these sessions please Ali or Kingsley (07879 644218) directly.

MCS Quiz - Friday 17th Jan 🧐 

Sue & Vince McAleer of Abidjan’s infamous Babi Quiz Night will be your hosts, so you can expect rounds such as “The News”, “Name Any…”, “Numbers” and of course “Tennis”.

Doors of the Mathon Parish Hall open at 6:30 pm, and the quiz starts at 7:00 pm. £8 per person includes a light supper. BYO drinks. Teams of 4-6 people. Team-less quizzers will be allocated a team. Non-members welcome.

Singles Ladder 🪜

Helen is organising a singles ladder and it’s proving very popular, you can check out the scores on the doors rungs in the clubhouse. If you crave something a bit more competitive or like running around more, then you’re going to love it.

Helen is also arranging “singles nights” which are a chance to get a few points without the hassle of needing to arrange anything yourself and there are snacks to keep energy levels up too. All are welcome to sign up. Email Helen for more details.

Popular Shop 🛍️

The popular shop is returning! Donate all those unwanted Christmas presents for us to sell at the club shop to boost club funds. More details to follow soon.

Need new strings? 🧵 

Mick Dixon is a Master Stringer based near Ledbury who offers a highly personalised restringing service for all levels, styles of play and injuries too. The cost is £20. Click here to view a poster about Mike’s service.

Serve ‘n’ Snack Shack 🍫

Plenty of supplies including some crisps, chocolate and soft drinks and mini-cheddars are available. Prices are on the fridge door and money goes in the honesty box in the cupboard. 

Free balls if you refer new members 🎾

We would love some new members. Let your friends and family know about the club. If an adult signs up due to your introduction then a lovely tube of Head balls will be yours. Please send Bella an email to claim your balls.

Club Kit 👕

Why not complete your tennis experience, be the envy of your club mates and also help to raise club funds by ordering some cool club kit?  Hoodies, jackets, T-shirts, polo shirts, and headbands are all available. Safeguarding 💛

Any safeguarding concerns contact the club Welfare Officer, Anne Spargo, on 07762260048 or email.  The first aid kit is in the cupboard on the left of the clubhouse as you enter. As a reminder, the defibrillator code is C1267.

Tennis Balls 🎾

Head Tour balls can be purchased from the club for £6 for a 4-ball tube. If you need balls, please contact Peter by email or text (07752704525) who will let you know how to get hold of your balls and how to pay. Please do not take balls without agreeing with Peter in advance.
