🔓 Padlock working (at last!)
We bought new padlocks, which have been a little temperamental; however some trusty WD40 seems to have solved the problem. So can everyone please make sure that the courts are locked after use rather than leaving them open. Thank you.
🎾 Tennis Balls info
Purchase - Head Tour balls for £6.00 a tube, please contact Peter ([email protected]) or 07752704525.
Baskets of balls - One holds used match balls which are for social tennis on Wednesdays and Sundays. The other basket is for old balls which are donated to a local school by Pat.
Wet balls - please leave on the rack attached to the heater to dry out, ready for future use.
🏓 Pickleball & Table Tennis
We haven’t forgotten about an introductory session or sessions for Pickle and there will be one in the spring. More information to follow as we have a coach so dates to come soon.
Rain has been a major feature since the new year, so at members’ requests, we are looking for a table tennis table, so if rain stops play outside tennis table can commence indoors. We are in the process of sourcing a table, but if anyone has one lurking in a garage looking for a new home, please let us know.
Committee
Welcome to Jim Parker, who has kindly taken on the role of grounds and maintenance on the committee replacing Sheila Wilson, who has done a fantastic job for the last four years, especially the wildflower meadow, which is now well established.
🤓 Mary & Geoff’s Quiz
Thank you to Mary and Geoff for organising a fun-filled games night on Friday 5 December. It was a different type of quiz night, and everyone enjoyed the games, especially drawing Sue! A fabulous grand total of £504 was raised. Thanks also to those who made the yummy soup and cake.

Mary & Geoff, our quizmasters!
🎾 Coaching
We had a very enjoyable Christmas party run by Sarah, Tina and George with fancy dress, food and drink in abundance. Thank you to our coaches for organising a brilliant evening.
Congratulations to our Sarah and Tina, who both became Level 4 coaches in December, a great achievement. Unfortunately, we’ve not managed to actually have much coaching so far this year due to the weather, but we are persevering. Here’s what is on offer:
George Wort offers junior coaching, rusty racquets and cardio on a Monday.
Sarah McCormick offers individual lessons and then adult group coaching on a Thursday afternoon.
Tina Manning offers individual lessons and is running a 30+ adults course at lunchtime on Thursday.
If you are interested, please contact Ali ([email protected]) or Sarah ([email protected]).
🏆 Teams Update
Winter season matches are progressing with all teams braving the weather.
Ladies A are very competitive and have had many close matches, and their aim to stay up in Division 3 without Leila and Lara is looking within reach
Ladies B have been a bit unfortunate but are fighting hard to get as many points as they can
Mens B are holding their own
Mixed A are 2nd in Div 3 West plus they have lots of matches left to play so looking good for a great result this season

Our Ladies A team
🚶 Walking Tennis
Walking Tennis has 8 regular players on a Friday morning at 10:30-12:00, but there is space for more people to take part, and so if you know anyone who wants to give it a go, please contact Ali ([email protected]).
🛒 Second-hand table
Thank you to all who have contributed or bought items from the table. We have raised nearly £250, so definitely worth doing to help club finances. If you have any items that need a new home, please put them on the table.
🍫 Serve ‘n’ Snack Shack
The goodies in the fridge (kept topped up by the snack fairy) provide that extra energy when needed. Please remember to put the money in the box or write your name down if you haven’t any change, ticking it off when you have paid. All proceeds go to the club.
🎾 Free balls if you refer new members
We would love some new members. Let your friends and family know about the club. If an adult signs up due to your introduction, then a lovely tube of Head balls will be yours. Please email Peter to claim your balls.
👕 Club Kit
Why not complete your tennis experience, be the envy of your club mates and also help to raise club funds by ordering some cool club kit? Hoodies, jackets, T-shirts, polo shirts, and headbands are all available. For further information, catalogue details and a quote please email Kim.
💛 Safeguarding
Any safeguarding concerns, contact the club Welfare Officer, Anne Spargo. The first aid kit is in the cupboard on the left of the clubhouse as you enter. As a reminder, the defibrillator code is C1267.
