AGM 🗒️
Our AGM is at Mathon Village Hall this coming Monday (13/11) from 7pm. A chance to hear about how the club is doing and share your ideas and feedback. Click here for more info. A final plug for volunteers to join the committee with roles in comms, marketing and fundraising - get in touch with David if you’re interested.
Club Security đź”’
NAG ALERT! A couple of weeks ago, the clubhouse was left open with the key in the door. Heating on, the lights tokens and Serve’n’Snack Shack kitty on the side, and our lovely clubhouse exposed to the elements and potential vandalism. Furthermore, courts are regularly left unlocked, and the gate is often left open.
When leaving, please remember 3Cs…
đź”’ Court - lock courts with padlocks and scramble the code
đź”’ Clubhouse - lock it and put the key in its safe
🔒 Close Gate - if you’re the last to leave
It is everyone’s responsibility to do this. Thanks in advance for your extra vigilance 🙏
New Floodlights Fundraising đź’°
Tony has also sent a personal email to all members about possible loans to help us fund new floodlights. Much as we all love the orangey glow of our current setup, technology has moved on, and with some investment, we can really transform after-dark play at MCS.
At this stage, we’re just looking to understand what people could loan the club before we decide whether to proceed. Loans would be a minimum of £100, non-interest bearing, repayable over c.3 years and confidential. If we go ahead, we expect to need funds in early 2024. If you can pledge or are interested in knowing a bit more, please contact Tony Poyner at [email protected] or call him on 07801 926 434.
Floodlights Tokens đź’ˇ
As the dark nights descend, we wanted to share info on floodlights. Tokens for floodlights are £2 and buy you an hour of illumination—money to go in the token box in the cupboard. Please pay with valid currency - we’ve had a few old-style pound coins and large quantities of 5ps recently, and this all creates hassle for the volunteers who manage the float and tokens. NB - Floodlights are free on Wednesday nights for social and league matches
Winter Round Robin 🎾
Helen has set up a Single round-robin for winter for those who would like to play singles through the winter. The emphasis is on fun, and it’s open to all ages and abilities. If you’re interested in joining this time or next time then please get in touch with Helen. More info here.

Shiny sparkly clean courts 🧽
Courts 1 and 2 have been professionally cleaned, so no more slipping and sliding, and we can all get right back to sprinting for every ball! Thanks to Sheila, Helen and Kingsley for their help getting this sorted so quickly to keep our courts safe for us all to enjoy. Thanks to Tony for photo!
