This month’s newsletter is brought to you by special guest editor, Ali 👩💻
Our amazing new floodlights and they ain’t half bright 😎
American Tournament - Sun 7th April 🏆
The first American tournament of the year is tomorrow, Sunday 7th April starting at 10am. Just turn up at the club ready for a fun morning of tennis. Pat is chief organiser and you will be finished by 1pm. Entrance fee is £3 to pay for lovely new balls! American tournaments are round-robin doubles competitions where participants are paired at random and then you swap partners mid-way through each round. All ages and abilities are welcome.
Dates for the rest of the American Tournaments this year are Sunday 21st July (combined with Open Day), Sunday 6th October and Sunday 29th December.
Floodlights 💡
All the hard work has paid off! We now have fantastic new floodlights on Courts 1 & 2. Huge thanks to Tony and everyone else who has been involved in this major project. The experience of playing under lights at MCS has been completely transformed!
Spring Cleaning 🧽
Court 3 has been professionally cleaned and now the grip on this court is as good as Courts 1 and 2 and they all look fabulous too! (And on the subject of cleaning…….please look after our precious clubhouse and also take any rubbish home (such as takeaway food?!)…..thank you!)
2024/25 Membership 💰
Subscriptions are now overdue and court codes have been changed! 1st April was the deadline for the 2024/25 season so if you haven’t paid your subs, please do so asap via the MCS website. This is especially important for team players, as LTA rules mean only active paid-up members of the club can play in the league teams. Please contact Bella by email if you need any help with renewing your membership to MCS using ClubSpark.
New members referral bonus 🎾
Existing members are the lifeblood of the club but new members are, of course, always very welcome! You may have seen the various adverts in local publications this month as we try to get word out there to potential new members. Please let as many friends and family know about the club and suggest that they sign up to experience all that it has to offer! A new tin of balls will be yours if you are successful in signing up a new adult member!
Summer Season 2024 👭👬👫
No sooner has the winter league season finished and the summer league season is upon us! We have the following teams playing in these Herefordshire & Worcestershire leagues this summer:
Details of the fixtures will be on the MCS website. Home support is always appreciated and it makes such a difference to have club members cheering the teams on! Drinks and snacks are always on offer to supporters too!
If you would be interested in playing for the club in league matches but not sure how to go about it, then please contact Helen on email or Steve on email
Summer Tournament 🏆
We’re looking for people to volunteer to be part of the team to run the tournament. Please email Ali if you can lend a hand.
News to follow later this month on the tournament which will run from May to August with Finals Day on Saturday 7th September.
Club Kit 👕
Why not complete your tennis experience, be the envy of your club mates and also help to raise club funds by ordering some cool club kit? Hoodies, jackets, T-shirts, polo shirts, headbands are all available. For further information, catalogue details and a quote please contact Kim Armitage on email.
Welfare & Safeguarding 💛
A reminder to all club members that the welfare of children & vulnerable adults is of paramount importance at MCS. If you have any concerns, please report them to the club Welfare Officer, Alison Walford, on 07967 627733 or email Ali.
Tennis Balls 🎾
Head Tour balls can be purchased from the club for £6 for a 4-ball tube. If you need balls, please contact Peter by email or text (07752704525) who will let you know how to get hold of your balls and how to pay. Please do not take balls without agreeing with Peter in advance.
