Heads-up: Tree Felling on 23/24 September 🌳
We (sadly) need to fell some ash trees at the club. This is scheduled for 23 and 24 September. Access to the courts will not be possible during the day for safety reasons. Evenings should be unaffected.
Preview of MCS Ladies Singles Final (Sat 7 Sept) 🎾
It’s the end of an exciting summer of club matches and kicks off at 10:30 am. Enjoy the MCS BBQ and watch our best slogging it out on court. Details to follow separately.
Meet our women’s singles finalists: Lara & Leila
Lara, 13 and Leila, 14, have seen off all the oldies to make it to the ladies final. This pair of pocket rockets have had a stellar season playing in our Ladies A team, in Division 3 of the Hereford and Worcester league. They’ve won all of their matches without dropping a set and Leila sits at the top of the statistics board with a 16-0 win rate. It should be a fantastic match, but who will come out on top?
Leila plays her “Way To Wimbledon” 🎾
Leila with Tim Henman at Wimbledon
From an initial 13,000 competitors, Leila was one of only 48 players to make it to the national finals at Wimbledon, which took place on the practice courts at Aorangi park. She made it out of the tough round robin stage and all the way to the last 16 of the knockout stage in the U14 category. She was delighted with her results and especially with the £28 food card she received each day to spend in the Wimbledon canteen!
Leila at Wimbledon!
Lara competes in J30 Edinburgh Tournament 🎾
Lara
Lara made it into the main draw at an ITF Junior International tournament in Edinburgh in the summer to play singles and doubles. She gained a lot of confidence from playing some of the very best international players in her age group and only just came up short in both matches. What an amazing experience to even make it to the starting line!
Look out for these two battling it out to be Queen of our club this year on the 7th. Look out for more details next week.
