🚶 Walking Tennis Taster Session
We’re offering a free Walking Tennis taster session on Friday 26th September at 11am, followed by coffee and cake… the perfect combo!
Walking Tennis is a fun and inclusive version of the game, ideal for those who may prefer a gentler pace. It’s played on a standard court with slightly adapted rules – no running or jumping, just good rallies, good laughs, and a good time. Whether you’re returning to tennis after a break, recovering from injury, or simply fancy something a little less energetic, Walking Tennis could be just the thing.
Everyone is welcome – members and non-members alike – so bring a friend and come and give it a try!
🎾 Overgrips for sale in Clubhouse
Thanks to those who’ve tried out the overgrip trial, the feedback’s been good so far! Unfortunately, the full box of 12 Babolat grips has gone missing without the £30 being paid 🤔. If you did take some and simply forgot, no worries, just pop the money in an envelope marked overgrips and leave it in the clubhouse.
Going forward, grips will be available at club sessions, matches, and coaching. All are priced below RRP, so it’s a good deal, but please note it’s cash only in the tin (no credit/IOUs), as I’m personally bankrolling this trial, not the club.
If you’ve got requests or feedback, just drop me an email.

🍕End of Singles Summer Season

The Singles winners (top lady, top pizza, overall winner)
We wrapped up Summer’s Singles Nights in style with homemade pizzas stone-baked at the club, thanks to Tom’s culinary talents!
Connor finished as overall champion with a comfortable lead on Tom’s brilliant singles ladder board, with Helen as out top lady. Congratulations to everyone who took part, there’s been some fabulous tennis on display all summer!
A huge thank you to Tom for running Singles Night so brilliantly, it’s going from strength to strength and is fast becoming one of the busiest evenings at the club.
👉 NB: Singles Night will now move to Friday evenings at 6pm, as we launch our new junior and adult improver coaching programmes.
All our welcome, here’s how it all works…
Matches are played in 30-minute blocks, which includes warm-up and changeover time.
At the end of the time period:
The player leading takes 3 points.
The trailing player takes 1 point.
If the score is tied, both players receive 2 points.
The final game should only be played out if it could make a material difference to the overall points awarded.

🎾 Ladies End of Season Party

The Ladies team wrapped up the season in style with a tournament fuelled by Anne’s now-legendary cheese biscuits. The scores were nail-bitingly close, leading to a playoff where Sue M and Ali triumphed, each claiming the ultimate prize: a bag of jelly babies!
Part two of the celebrations saw those who could adjourn to Peter and Anne’s for a proper knees-up 🎶, joined by our special guest Jackie Styles.
A special shout-out to our brilliant new members, Daisy and Peter, who threw themselves into both the tennis and the partying — it’s wonderful to have such fun new faces joining the club!

🍫 Serve ‘n’ Snack Shack
Check out the fridge for a range of cold drinks and naughty snacks - prices are on the fridge door and money goes in the box in the cupboard. All proceeds go to the club.
🎾 Free balls if you refer new members
We would love some new members. Let your friends and family know about the club. If an adult signs up due to your introduction then a lovely tube of Head balls will be yours. Please email Peter to claim your balls.

Why not complete your tennis experience, be the envy of your club mates and also help to raise club funds by ordering some cool club kit? Hoodies, jackets, T-shirts, polo shirts, and headbands are all available. For further information, catalogue details and a quote please email Kim.
💛 Safeguarding
Any safeguarding concerns contact the club Welfare Officer, Anne Spargo. The first aid kit is in the cupboard on the left of the clubhouse as you enter. As a reminder, the defibrillator code is C1267.
🎾 Tennis Balls
